What Is a Poll Watcher
Poll Watchers must be authorized by the Election Superintendent to observe on a party’s or candidate’s behalf. Both parties are qualified to provide training in compliance with the Secretary of State guidelines.
Poll Watchers should be trained and their names submitted to the Party Executive Committee and the Election Superintendent by defined deadlines: The Party Executive Committee (DeKalb County GOP) designates individuals at least 7 days prior to Election Day (Dec. 6) and then, the Party submits names to the Election Superintendent at least 3 days prior to Election Day.
Poll Watchers may be permitted behind the enclosed space for the purpose of observing the conduct of the election and the counting of and recording of votes. This position is normally volunteer (unpaid) and poll watchers can come and go.
